Character Blog Tour
I have been tagged by the incredible author, Maria DeVivo in what’s known as a character blog tour. This tour highlights our latest work in progress, and gives a sneak peek into what’s coming soon.
DeVivo is a New York native who has had a lifetime love affair with "the pen." Her debut YA Dark Fantasy, The Coal Elf, was published by Twilight Times Books in November 2012. It has been said of her writing, "No one can wrench your stomach into knots like this lady!" She is currently represented by The Carolyn Jenks Agency.

1) What is the name of your character? Is he/she fictional or a historic person?
Jared is a fictional character, very loosely based on my son of the same name. This fictional Jared also has the power to manipulate electrical energy within his body and use it as a weapon, though he’s still learning to harness his gift.
2) When and where is the story set?
The story takes place in several places. It originates in Tampa, Florida, then goes to Washington D.C., up to Rhode Island for a short time, and finally ends on Cape Hatteras, North Carolina.
3) What should we know about him/her?
Jared is a complex individual. He is a teenager who has been conflicted for several years. His father, Dr. Edward Lagdon, died four years ago. Then he found out that he wasn’t actually dead – only hiding.
4) What is the main conflict? What messes up his/her life?
There is a scientist named Dr. Rayther who doesn’t like Edward very much, and caused him to go into hiding. There were several experiments that Edward worked on with Dr. Rayther that turned out to be much more sinister than Edward realized. When he understood that Rayther was planning to take over the world with the inventions Edward had unwittingly been helping him create, he thought it prudent to disappear, knowing that if he stayed, he would most likely be killed.
5) What is the personal goal of the character?
His main conflict in this, the sequel of the story, involves his father returning to try to save the world when he believes Dr. Rayther is going to use his doomsday weapon. Jared, his mother, his friends, Nap and Amy, all have to work together to help Edward try to stop a catastrophe that he feels responsible for making possible.

Kendra Ayers began her love of books (reading and writing them) at a very young age. Now that she is a mother, Kendra is writing her first tween/children's book in a trilogy about enchanted fountains, friendship, and the power of family secrets. Kendra lives with her family in Illinois and enjoys gardening, homeschooling her five year old son, and reading with a giant mug of coffee.
