So... interesting week
Like every Wednesday night I get the chance to spend an hour with 10/12 other guys reliving our younger years by playing a football match on one of these new 4G pitches. It is probably one of the highlights of my week, de-stresses me, puts a smile on my face and keeps me relatively fit. Last Wednesday however was a little different.
We had played around fifty minutes so far, I of course was producing football that could only be described as a crossbreed of Ronaldo, Iniesta, Henry and with a sprinkling of Kompany... I know, sounds awesome right? Anyway, Time was ticking and then bam. My ankle goes over and within seconds I am on the floor trying to put my fist through this new artificial pitch. It hurt, a lot.
The guys were brilliant, called me an ambulance, hung around until it turned up and tried to keep me laughing. But the opinion of everyone watching my ankle triple in size was that it was broken. What wonderful luck I have right? Short story, and a very long wait at the Accident and Emergency, I am told the ankle is not broken. "Yes!" I thought but was brought straight back down to earth by being told that it is a Grade 3 Sprain with torn ligaments across the ankle. "Oh and by the way," they said, "Thats worse than a break."
Excellent. Thank you very ******* much.
So as you will see from the picture above, I am now mainly in one of these trendy ski boots and not a cast. I say mainly because I can take it off when I'm in bed etc which is good, but most of the time you will find me one boot short of a ski slope. The best/worst thing that has come of this is that I have spent all of my resting time watching the 24 Boxset from episode one and am now almost through to Series Four! Thats an incredible amount of time to waste on a show right? I know :/ but its soooo addictive! I have been back to work also, my resting period was about 3 days in bed but now one week on I feel okay. The swelling is down and it hurts mainly in the morning PLUS with the boot on I can walk pretty well.
So that's my week so far. Football, Injury and Jack Bauer. The Good, The Bad and the incredibly Awesome yet Time Consuming. Hopefully I will have a preview chapter for Book Three up and running soon so look out for that and have a great week - without injury.
