THE POWER OF PRAYER

“Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much” (James5:16).
The bible tells us in James we have a powerful weapon in the form of prayer. Effectual, fervent prayer. This tells me that prayer should be done a certain way.
Effectual: sufficient to produce an effect.
It should be done with the intention of producing an effect or getting a result.
Fervent: ardent, intense.
It should be done with intensity and feeling. In other words, it should be spoken from the depth of our hearts. This type of prayer is dynamic. Dynamic means of motive force, of force in actual operation.
Based on all the definitions and Scriptures, let us sum up in a few words all that was said before.
Prayer spoken from the depth of our hearts with the intention of getting a result sets in motion an actual force, or cause a force to come in actual operation.
Imagine a navy destroyer ship at sea with a guided missile, having its coordinates plotted. The moment the button is pressed, it goes directly to its target and nowhere else. These missiles are so powerful, but if a soldier or someone else does not press that button, it remains just a powerful missile, and you will never see what it can do.
If we do not pray, then the power of the Holy Ghost (the force) will never be set in motion, and we will never see results. Tremendous power is available to us, but only our effectual, fervent prayer can set it in motion. When set in motion, it will hit that target and achieve the desired result. The Scripture says pray for one another that we may be healed and restored. Let us put this into practice. We rush through our day sometimes, saying one-sentence prayers to God in order to ease our conscience, but this is not enough. Let us lock ourselves away in our closets again and pray. You will be surprised the results it brings.
