Facing Demons by Lynley Wayne
Welcome to day two of the Facing Demons blog tour.
Blurb:
At the age of fifteen, Seth Dempsey gave his heart to Cameron Reyes. Three years later, Cam shattered it when he walked away. When Cam blows back into Seth’s life years later, Seth knows he will do whatever it takes to ensure Cam doesn’t slip away again. Even if it means going up against a corrupt DEA agent and a drug cartel.
Cameron Reyes was born on the wrong side of the tracks. He fell in love with Seth, but knew the only way to keep him safe was to leave, no matter how much it hurt. Eleven years later, when his life implodes, he knows the only person he can trust is the boy whose heart he broke all those years ago.
While they fight to stay one step ahead of everyone and clear Cam’s name, can they learn to work together in order to face down the demons of the past and find the happily ever after they have dreamed of?
Excerpt:
“Where do you think he goes all the time?” Seth asked.
Landon turned the television off. “No. We’re not doing this.”
“What?”
“Every time Cam does his disappearing act, you fret and mope. I love Cam, you know I do, but I am getting sick of this. It isn’t fair to you. Whatever he has going on, he needs to come clean with you. You deserve to know.”
“I can’t expect him to tell me every little thing. Besides, this is Cam we’re talking about. He isn’t exactly the poster child for opening up or having heart to heart talks, ya know.”
“Bullshit.” Landon slammed his hand down on the table. “Being Cam does not give him the right to behave this way. For too many years we have been letting him get away with his crap, because ‘he’s Cam,’ like that’s a reason for him to be an ass. I’m sick of it, all right? He disappears with no explanation. Sometimes he’s gone for days at a time with not one phone call to you let you know he’s alive. For someone who is supposed to love you, he sure has a hell of a way of showing it.”
A tense silence settled over the room.
As much as Seth wanted to defend Cam or tell Landon he was wrong, he couldn’t.
“Listen.” Landon ran his fingers through his hair, making it stand up in disarray. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have yelled at you.”
“It’s okay.”
“It’s not. I’m pissed at him and I’m taking it out on you, which isn’t much better, in my book, to what Cam does. So, I’m sorry.”
“Me too. I’m sorry you always end up having to distract me while Cam’s off doing God knows what.”
“You know I don’t mind.”
“I know.”
“You deserve better, Seth. If you don’t say something now…” Landon stood and paced the living room. “I don’t want this to be what your life is about. You waiting at home, miserable, while Cam is off doing whatever.”
Landon flopped back down on the couch.
“Screw it.” Seth stood and grabbed his keys off the table. “Let’s go have some fun. I’m not going to wait around here all day to see if he shows up or not. He has a key.”
* * *
Cam stopped right inside the back door. The sound of Landon’s raised voice surprised him. Landon wasn’t one to lose his temper, so hearing the anger was a shock.
Once he realized Landon was talking about him, he thought about charging in and telling Landon to mind his own damn business.
A knot settled in his stomach when it became clear Seth wasn’t going to defend him. Not that he could blame him. Cam had so many secrets. Some he couldn’t tell Seth, even if he wanted to. Others, he wasn’t sure where to start.
He remained still, bile rising in his throat, until he heard the front door shut and the rev of Seth’s car as he backed out of the drive.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered to the empty house.

Author Bio:
Lynley Wayne is the pen name of a thirty-something female living on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. When not writing, she can usually be found reading and thinking up creative ways to avoid housework. She is married to a very understanding man who doesn’t complain when she spends hours in front of the computer, or talks for hours about whatever story she’s working on, or asks random off the wall questions. He also keeps her fed on those occasions when her muse has taken over and she loses days at a time. Yeah, basically he’s vying for sainthood.
Lynley strongly believes everyone is entitled to their own version of happiness, no matter how it may differ from the norm. She writes characters she wants to read and hopes others like reading about them as much as she enjoyed writing them.
It is her hope that one day society will be able to look past the labels and see the person behind them. That they will realize we are all the same. Until that time comes, she will continue telling stories of a love others may believe is wrong, but she thinks is nothing short of beautiful.
