I think Ailey knows something about their birth parents and how it is they came to be adopted by different families. I would venture to say that their parents were involved in this fight against the Tingui and their previous actions led to their demise but also puts Tristen in significant danger for some reason other than just the fact that he's a Seeker.

Yes, this is very similar to what I've been thinking - that she knows more about their birth parents and heritage. Their involvement with the Tingui is a very good theory, it seems very possible.
