There is nothing more satisfying than giving birth to a long-gestating work. By coincidence, two of my novels have been released within a month of one another. The first is a YA adventure novel, The Golden City of Doubloon. The second is an innocents abroad novel, Cafe Eisenhower. I labored over both for several years, but eventually was rewarded when two different publishers agreed to take on the works. I am very pleased with the results and the reception thus far has been heartening. Here's the problem. I am suffering from the post-publication blahs. I can't call them blues, because I'm still working on new material. But I'm not far enough into the process to really begin to feel the new works cohering, so I feel adrift. It's not writer's block so much as starting a new relationship and wondering if one can fall in love again-with the characters, with the narrative, with the construction and wording. Will let you know what happens.
