The Real Thing

During my research I found this actual color photo from the 1890's. Rare, and pretty amazing!

Pierre Those are the original untouched colors? Amazing!

Aric Cushing Yes! The only picture I've ever seen from the Victorian period that was color, and the real thing.

Rambling Reader And it was not that long ago, really! My grandmother was born in 1910 and she died last November at the age of 102.

Aric Cushing Wow. Chris, you probably have some amazing pictures of her from the 1910's. You should post 1 if you've got them available.

Rambling Reader That's a thought. I'll ask my aunt if she got any online.

Aric Cushing You should. Even something from the 20's would be interesting. Or the 30's even.

Rambling Reader I will have to ask my aunt to upload pictures online. My grandmother had an interesting life.

Pierre I would be curious to know what color technology was used to produce this picture way back then.

message 10: by Aric (new)

Aric Cushing I wondered that as well. I'm not sure.

Aric Cushing It looks exactly like that technique. Thanks Pierre. The article you attached is fantastic.
