Dear All,
I just got off the phone with Bill Fawcett, the multi-talented. On behalf of Dragon*con, he invited me to attend next year's convention — their 25th!
It turns out that he, Todd, and Gigi have all been working together quietly to see if this would be something that I'd like and if it were possible, from a health standpoint (after all, I'll be 85 by then!). And while no one can guarantee the future, they all agreed that with precautions, I should be fine — particularly as Gigi will accompany me on the flights there and back.
So, health permitting, I'll be at Dragon*con 2011. I apologize that I won't be able to do nearly as many appearances as I'd like (oh, to be even 20 years younger!) but I can't think of a convention I'd rather attend in my 85th year!

Wow! I found Pern when I was twelve, thanks to a thoughtful teacher who put Dragonflight in my hands. You were one of my biggest inspirations to become an author, so I hope that someday (if I'm very lucky, at Dragon*con) I'll have the chance to thank you in person for all you've done. My bookshelves and my stories would never have been what they are without you.

I am so wanting to go, as I absolutely love your books, be it pern or Petaybee or unicorn girl. I am also glad that your son Todd has developed your talent for bringing imaginations to life, so the world of pern can continue for a long time.

Dear Santa, I want to go to Dragon Con for Christmas!
You have been my favorite author since I first read "Dragonsong" in 6th grade. You even wrote back to me once around that same time and signed your letter in purple. :-D I've never been to a con before, but I'm going to do my best to make it to this one and actually meet you in person!!! *fingers crossed that everything turns out just right*
