In the beginning...
I am not the kind of person who enjoys talking about myself. But in writing a paragraph or two for my author pages and reader interest, I recently mentioned the novel I wrote as a twelve year old and so I decided to dig it out. You must remember here that I was an idyllic youngster with my only reference to romance coming from Hollywood or novels.
“Love’s Flame” as it was called, later “Love’s Glorious Destiny” was a story about a female pirate, who suffers the loss of a far from perfect father, and journeys back to her childhood home. While there she is abducted and ironically transported on her own ship with the help of her crew who aid her deception. Of course she eventually falls for her captor and they live happily ever after.
And that was the imagination of my youth. I spent many an hour locked away in my room writing, dreaming of becoming an author while my friends dreamt of being singers or movie stars. More than thirty years on, the catalyst for reviving my passion for writing was an extremely vivid dream that led to me writing my first adult novel. Strangely enough that wasn’t Redemption, but that’s a story for another time.
