Sparkling Dogs
I never realised that dogs could sparkle until I owned a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, and there is nothing quite like a wet Cavalier King for added sparkle. Here is a snippet from my little book called Sam - The Busker's Dog on the issue of wetness:
"the issue of wetness is an area of great fascination and interest for cavalier owners. this is because when you get a cavalier king you never know whether it will be a water babe or a non-water babe. it's pot luck what you get.
you see, drenching a cavalier in water makes us sparkle one way or another - either we sparkle with glee or we sparkle with glumness. until you douse your cavalier with water you can never tell which sort of sparkle you will get.
wetness magnifies the fact that we have spindly legs, and a spindly tail, which is shown up for what it is: a long thin bony thing like a worm, instead of a wonderful furry fan"
....but it's true that a picture paints a thousand words, and then follows a pageant of wet Cavalier Pooches all sparkling with either glee or glumness. I like non-fiction books to be illustrated with photographs, though fiction is often best left to for the reader's imagination to expand.
