Carrolyyn Davidson is a mess. She lives in isolation and is only emotionally tied to her habits. Mornings consist of a twenty-minute shower routine followed by the strenuous task of packing food containers for the day. The thirty three year-old event planner is morbidly obese. She wears the same six outfits, never looks in the mirror and does not have any need for health, beauty and wellness.
When Carrolyyn’s drug addicted mother was caught on a binge by prospective adoptive parents, she went to jail for fraud and endangerment. Mr. Charrles raised Carrolyyn until she was five years-old. When the pressure of being a single parent became too hefty, her father took his own life, leaving the child as a ward of the state.
Marty and Madge Davidson adopted the young girl, fed her well and gave her grand opportunities. After earning a full ride to Northwestern University and upon enjoying a successful internship at a Chicago premier event planning agency, Carrolyyn stayed in her Evanston apartment and earned a place on the event planning team at “Take Me To The Ball.”
While Carrolyyn’s social skills were lacking and while she could not function through a day without containers and comfort foods, she was very good at her job and worked on several high profile events.
One day while checking e mail, Carrolyyn discovered Chubbychasers.com. This discovery leads to a whole new way of life for the young woman leading up to her thirty fourth birthday. In addition, while working on a major event for her company, Carrolyyn receives an opportunity of a lifetime to move to Hollywood.
Chubby Chasers is the second novel by Chicago native Kat Hibbard. Bullets: Growing Up In The Crossfire was released in July 2007. Bullets is a memoir about growing up in domestic violence. Hibbard has turned the tables by publishing her memoir first and following with a fictional roller coaster ride. Hibbard’s use of real life situations mixed with satire and dark comedy keeps readers engaged in the story while not knowing what will happen next. Chubby Chasers takes several unforeseen twists and turns keeping readers wanting more.
