Bikers who REBOOT! Week 3 Update
Week 3: UPDATE
As stated in the last update, after Juicing only for two weeks, we realized the cost for the entire family to continue was simply astronomical, so we got together and chose to readjust our regimen. This is what we decided.
First, we took a short break and enjoyed a night out for a family dinner on Valentines day. We enjoyed some grilled and baked seafood, no starches, (except we all indulged in the cheddar biscuits as a treat) and the next day we began a different two week regimen.
Week 1:
2 boiled eggs and a banana or an orange for breakfast
Green Juice for lunch
Baked/Grilled Fish with sliced tomatoes & cucumbers or a salad for dinner
Nuts/Fruits/Fresh Vegetables for the occasional snack
(NOTE: The snacks were necessary, as we found that hunger had returned quickly after we stopped the all day juicing. Our guess is had we been able to do the entire 30 days, this may not have been the case....but then again, that's how we learn!
Week 2:
The same menu, except we alternate between fish and chicken breast to add variety, and a couple of times we added a light sprinkling of shredded cheddar cheese to the boiled egg halves.
This worked well, we are all still dropping pounds, but our energy level decreased after the all day juicing stopped. However, the cost of juicing is still an issue, so we decided to combat that head-on, by ordering 25 heirloom vegetable seed packets online from
mypatriotsupply.com for our spring garden. (They are very reasonable in their pricing and shipping charges, I checked several sites before choosing) After we ordered the seeds, we borrowed a tiller to prepare the ground while we waited for them to arrive. Unfortunately, before we could turn the soil, 'Old Man Winter' arrived throwing a snow tantrum, so tilling was put on hold.
The seeds arrived in the mail today! And now that the snow is gone...it will be raining all week. So we are off to get some potting soil and will begin germinating our seeds indoors, while winter lingers, and plant the seedlings in the garden once spring finally arrives, along with the rest of the seeds. This will offer us an early harvest and put us ahead of the game!
For now, until the garden is ready for harvest, we will Green Juice as much as we can afford and eat light when we have to, for the next few months. Once we are producing our own vegetables we plan to do a complete 30 day detox...60 days is also being discussed, we will play it by ear and see where it takes us.
We all still feel better than we did before we started, and the little aches and pains have diminished. We are still doing light exercise indoors, and can't wait for the weather to clear so we can take it outside again. We have decided to plant hedges around the property this spring, so this will be great exercise for us, while upping the property value at the same time! All three of us continue on, determined to make this thing work. Sometimes life just gets in the way and you just have to readjust! Plus, our daughter will be moving back home next month and has decided to join us in our Juicing adventure! Yep...that garden will save us all!
I'll keep ya posted!
