Thank you, Terri. It has always seemed wrong to do, not just because I am a Christian, but because it looks like conceit. The publisher made some errors in spite of my editing(I do have a good eye) and several readers panned it because of that. I am currently reworking to put it on Kindle. Hopefully more will read it as the book price is a bit steep, and I plan to make the Kindle price much cheaper.
You are the first one to comment, and I appreciate it very much.
Thanks.
You are welcome. When I saw you condemn self rating I had to show support. It is often mentioned in groups how conceited or (gosh..I lack the right word) it is to give oneself 5 stars. I do feel that is for readers to decide not authors.
There is also another situation going around on Goodreads.
The books publishers doing the rating and review. I find that simply without class.
I did not know authors did that! It never crossed my mind.

If there is one thing that Goodreads members hate, it is authors rating their own books 5 stars.
I think it is, as you say, obvious that authors like their own book. That is a given. They do not need to give it a 5 star rating in order to bump their average up.
They should rely on readers to do the rating and if the book really is that good, then they'll get 5 stars the honest way.
