On April 27th 2014 I published Roc Isle: Tempest, a heroic fantasy novel set twenty years after The Descent. What I’m often asked at events is if this is the sequel to The Descent. The answer to that question is both “yes” and “no”.

“Yes”, it’s like a sequel because there is a continuation to the conflict started by Lord Azure’s Descent, and Lord Azure and Ankah are still main protagonists.

“No”, it’s not a sequel because I wrote Tempest as an original novel, focusing on different struggles, namely the conflict between father and son, and of the fate of Roc Isle. I I introduced new protagonists such as Lord Azure’s son, Lord Ream, and the evil sorcerer Ja Ono. Whereas The Descent introduces readers to Roc Isle and the war of the same name, Tempest concludes with a different war.
