I’m baaaaaack!

Just got some great news that Dreamspinner Press accepted my time travel short story. It will be part of the Daily Dose package in June, and is called POP Goes the Time Traveler. I’m so excited! My New Year’s resolution for 2012 was to publish at least two stories, so I’m half way there.

I am working on several fun projects right now. I had a story returned by Dreamspinner asking me to expand it as a novella, and I’ve been having a good time working on it — it keeps getting longer and longer. It’s called Arriba Aruba! and you’ll never guess where it takes place! Yup, Aruba. I haven’t been there in ten years but it’s been amusing to do the research and see how it’s changed. My lucky father and stepmother get to go for five weeks every year, so I’ve been picking their brain too. It’s the story of Cray, who gets dumped at the alter by his fiancee, who ran away with his best friend to Las Vegas, and the poor man goes to Aruba to lick his wounds. Cray meets a hot guy on the plane named Stone, and they fall in love, of course, in between booze cruises, wind surfing, scuba diving and other activities.

I’m also working on a young adult book with Paul Richmond, the artist. That’s all I’m going to say about it for now, but I’ll keep you updated….

Last weekend was spent in NY with Dreamspinner Press, which hosted many of the authors I’ve been reading for years. We spent Friday learning about how to work with Dreamspinner. The key people were there, like Elizabeth North, Lynn West, Arial Tachna, and Anne Regan. It was really nice to put faces with names I’ve been communicating with (I did proofreading for a while too), and to meet the wonderful group of people who run the publishing company. I had a fantastic time getting to know both authors and cover artists. Paul Richmond was there, and we had a chance to bond over drinks, drag queens and two-stepping.

We all attended the Rainbow Book Fair as part of the weekend, which was even larger than last year but much better laid out. Dreamspinner won the prize for the most authors present. I think we may have overwhelmed everyone else. LOL DSP treated us like royalty all weekend, and we were chauffered back and forth from the fair by a stretch limo! Hard to beat that….

I promise to be better about updating my blog! Have a great weekend, everybody. I’m going to be writing.
