To Kindle, Or Not to Kindle

Several fellow readers have shared their very positive experiences with their Kindle gizmos. They do sound cool as beans. Imagine carrying a mini-library in the palm of your hand. Amazing stuff of Star Trek. From an author's standpoint, I know I don't care how my books might be read, just grateful they are. Still, I can't view myself completely giving up the paper sort of books. Maybe next year Santa will leave one under the tree.

Cyd There is something about holding the actual book in your hand.

Danielle I've had the Sony ereader for almost 2 years and I love it. I don't miss holding a book or losing my page when I fall asleep reading. It is great for travel, especially when you don't want to limit yourself to how many books you can fit in your bag. It is a commuter's dream come true.

Are you able to adjust the print size of the text like a large-print edition? I'm not there yet, but one of these days I will be.

Diane I loved my kindle so much I got one for my step-son and my husband. I know my husband appreciates not having to carry a lot of books with us on vacation. Just one little kindle apiece and hundreds of books.

Karen I've been reading books on my Droid smartphone and I just love it. I've got the software on it from Kindle, B&N's Nook, Borders e-reader (as well as several other e-reader programs) so I can get books from any of them. Since I'm going to have my phone with me all the time anyway, I know I'll also always have something to read. And I've really, really enjoyed downloading books for free from Manybooks.net; I've found some great old mysteries there that I've really loved. If you want to try out the Kindle, Nook and Borders e-reader, you can download their software for free to any computer or most smartphones.

Yes you can change the font size on the readers. They are very easy on the eyes and there is absolutely no glare. Since I have one of the first readers, mine does not have many of the cool features some of the new ones have. You also have access through your public library to borrow books which is an awesome feature as well. At any point in time I have at least 50 books on my reader just in case my mood changes while I'm on the train to work.
