Memorial Day
I remember poppies red
Sold to us to remember dead
Who long ago had died in France
And maybe someday I could chance
To die for God and country too
And for the red and white and blue
That it might wave forever free
For liberty for you and me
Now on this day I'm glad to say
I never had to go away
In ships or planes to make a stand
Yet others did and other died
Their families by their graves have cried
We pray their sacrifice not vain
And given so our sweet refrain
Remain land of the brave and free
On this day and forever be
