Amazon "tops"

In the first week or so after my book was available, it was really fun to check the Amazon page periodically. A little orange banner proclaimed that Soap Is Political was the #1 New Release in the category Poetry About Places! A relatively small category, of course, but what fun to be number 1 ANYTHING on Amazon!

Now it's no longer classified as a new release, but it's still in & out of the lists of top sellers in poetry about places & also poetry by women. In poetry, just a couple of purchases on a given day seem to make a difference.

I'm selling books "by hand" too, of course--at the book launch party, which was gorgeous, & individually when people are interested. There's going to be a reading by poets at my workplace next month, & I'm welcome to bring copies there. And other events are coming up.

It's a measure of my immersion in the poetry world that I'm thinking so much about how to get Soap Is Political out there. When Yellow Doors was published, I wasn't really in this world & didn't have these opportunities.

I feel meltingly grateful for every single person who wants to read my work.
