Saturn at opposition

Saturn is now at opposition, meaning it's bigger and brighter than at any other time. Saturn and its rings are easily visible through even a small telescope.

Maybe I'm just wierd, but looking through a telescope at the heavens always makes me feel closer to God. It gives me a reminder of just how awesome his creation really is.

Tim Speer The clouds finally broke enough that I was able to get my telescope out last night. It was still cloudy enough to prevent any deep sky observing, but I did get some good views of Saturn as well as Jupiter and the moon.

Saturn's rings are currently tilted at about a 45 deg. angle to the earth, making them a magnificent sight.
