Down Shift is live!

Whoop whoop? Amazon published “The Fast and the Furryous: Down Shift” much quicker than I anticipated. This means I’m pretty much scrambling to do marketing while still finishing the second draft of the next installment, “Bearly Legal.”

So, I get it. Serials drive you crazy, and not in a fun toes-curling way. I remember my own first experience with a serial: H.M. Ward’s “The Arrangement.” I think I made it through… maybe nine of her installments before my wallet and butt-hurt feelings couldn’t handle it anymore. Those were $2.99 each, too. So while I loved the story, the many installments kind of wore me down.

“But, uh, Vera… you’re releasing a serial. WTF?”

Yeah, yeah. My goal is really to make use of Kindle Unlimited. This is where serials shine. Think about it; if you’re in KU, you can binge read all the short serials quickly. If you were to pay for them individually, it adds up (though I price mine as cheap as Amazon will let me). I love the idea of trying out an author and, if I like him/her, just going hog-wild on all of their books in KU.

The Fast and the Furryous started as a joke. I loved the movies and let’s face it– coming up with pun titles is SO MUCH FUN. But as I decided to commit to the story, I kind of fell in love. However, my favorite stories to write are short and sweet. I like erotic stories, I like the dark, I like the funny, I like it all… but I write it quickly. Even with shifters, I don’t want to stray far from what works well for me as a writer.

One last thing, though. I will be releasing boxed sets. So if you truly hate serials, like want-to-punch-serial-authors-in-their-freaking-throats hate, you can STILL enjoy the Fast and the Furryous when the boxed sets are available.
