Struck by Lightning

Have you ever read a book where you instantly knew the character, felt like you could have been their friend if they were a real live person, read every word of the book, wanting nothing but the best for this person because they felt like a friend?

That's exactly how the main character of Struck By Lightning: The Carson Phillips Story by Chris Colfer was. Man, this character was the kind of guy I would have wanted as a friend back in high school. He was driven, didn't like the high school drama and not afraid to speak his mind. He was sometimes crass and did some things that weren't exactly "right", but I was really rooting for this guy.

This book was whitty, intellectual and fun....until the last chapter or so. Then it took some twists and turns (that I should have expected I know, but I was in denial) and left me sobbing like a baby.

But I still loved it and would still say it was a really good read and worth the investment. As you may or may not know I listen to books on Audible to help my commute be more tolerable and this was a really short listen. Just under 4 hours.

I totally recommend it, just know that you will be totally sad at the end. It's not a feel-good book with a happy ending.

Chris Colfer also has three fairy tale books out that are also equally good, but this one is totally not okay for the kids, Struck By Lightning has adult content, and language.
