Just Be A Little Kinder
“If you
judge people you have no time to love them.” Mother Teresa
I saw
this quote circulating twitter during the week and it really struck a chord with
me. Then, having recently attended my Granddaughter’s 8th grade
graduation, I was pleased to see the motivation of the graduating class was to
be a little kinder – exactly what I’d like to bring into the fold today.
I’ve
paid close attention to my fellow Positivity blog tour authors’ thoughts and
suggestions on alleviating negativity and dismal reactions to life’s
challenges. Everyone’s prose was different, yet the underlying message was
universally spot on – be a little kinder, in thought, word and deed. Seems
almost like a prayer, doesn’t it?
And why
shouldn’t it be? Being a little kinder to those who may be suffering from
something that may seem inconsequential to one person doesn’t mean it’s
unimportant to the person who’s dealing with their issue. Plus, tolerance and
patience with your fellow humans is what’s going to make or break your own
serenity. I should know. My serenity has been tested many times over, and it’s
how I’ve learned to handle unpleasant situations that have made me strive to be
a better person.
The
other message I want to share with you all today is this: You have to be kind
to yourself, before you can be kind to others. I’ve sometimes been my own worst
enemy. Don’t knock yourself for what you haven’t accomplished - applaud
yourself for what you did, even if it’s just the tiniest achievement.
My
fellow authors, led by our host Mistral Dawn, have been wonderfully kind to me
during the craziest month ever. When I
was offered an invitation to join in on the Positivity Month Blog Tour, I wasn’t
sure I’d be able to keep up my end of the bargain, by writing weekly posts. My
husband and I were moving just five days prior to June first, which was the beginning
of this Positivity blog tour, which I’ll be forever grateful to have
participated in. I’ve made new friends, and one of my favorite experiences was
how I’ve been able to absorb the other authors’ positive energy through their
posts. It’s been a true blessing during a difficult time, and very thought
provoking in positive ways.
I’m also
late in getting my post up, but I’m not going to bang my head against the wall
of frustration over it. I know these fabulous gals will forgive me, because we’re
all trying to be a little kinder.
Until
next time, love each other and count your blessings. We’ve much to be grateful
for.
