Seeking Your Advice!

My soon-to-be-published-book Bette Greene’s Verbal Karate for Girls tackles bullying by offering advice and tactics to combat abuse.

Now I am seeking your advice. How have you personally coped with bullying? Did you ignore it or fight back? Did you find success?

Please offer your advice, and you will be acknowledged in the thank-you page of Bette Greene’s Verbal Karate for Girls in return! Also comment or private message the preferred way you would wish your name to be noted.

Nora Hello,Bette, bullying, the age old villain takes lives. When I was a child, it only made one miserable & fearful and if a youngster had a physical abnormality he/she was really in for it. Big ears, stood out from the young boy's head. That was what set our nephew up for pain. Overweight made my sister & a friend easy targets. As a teacher I was on the lookout and we (teachers) knew who the victims and perpetrators were. Hall, lunch, recess duty we were vigilant but the bullies were sly. They shot their vicious arrows in bathrooms, corners, dressing rooms. Parents only know a fraction of the agony suffered. Glad you're writing this.

Nora Oh yes, signs in schools: Bully Free Zone ---what a joke! Getting admin to assist, that too is a sad joke.

Lauren I might be a little to late, but I had a habit of getting picked on since I was nice. I distinctly remember the worse time being a bully squirting a pack of ketchup all over my shirt, and after that I was called "Ketchup" for months and months. I didn't fight back. I ignored everyone who called me the name, and slowly it died away. I think its best to fight back if you can, but some situations go away on their own. Kids just need to keep their chin up and have a good attitude. Be above of bullying.
