Wishing everybody a great start to the school year!

I’m a summer girl; it’s always hard for me to get back into the groove of the fall. But today it hit 97 degrees. That is SO MANY DEGREES. How can it be time for school? Even if it is already well into September? I bought a pack of 60 pens and a pack of 36 pencils, just to get psyched. School supplies — is there anything more hopeful? I so love school supplies. A blank notebook is such an invitation to ambition.

Around here, my older kid is already back at it in college, and my baby is about to start 11th grade. I felt so grown by 11th grade, and certainly by junior year of college! My kids are both taller than I am and so much more responsible and wise than I was at their ages but still, it’s an explosion in my mind and my heart to reckon with how old they are, both my babies, when I can still so clearly feel their specific densities and wiggles in my arms.

(This was 10 minutes ago I swear)

But no. It’s our second to last First Day of School around here.
