I'm not a visual picture in that I can't draw a straight line or paint a picture. I can look at artwork in a museum and say whether I like it or not, but then who can't do that? So, relying on others' artistic expertise to gin up the art concepts for my book covers is a real lifeline. So far, I've had the pleasant fortune to like and appreciate all of my covers (approaching ten now). A couple of the covers grew on me over time, or perhaps I just accepted them better. Sometimes I can pluck out a section to the novel, such as a key image or scene, that captures the right and true spirit. I work diligently on striking original book titles (a different blog topic), so maybe the titles inspired the cover artists to create what utterly amazes and humbles me. I'll never be an artist.
