You Can Get With This... or You Can Get With That

I have to say thanks a million to the people who signed up for ARCs. When an author puts themselves out there hoping to gain new readers, it's a big leap. You know your work is good, you know your story is entertaining, but how do you get others intrigued enough to want to give it a try?

Good Cover Art?
Kickass Promos?
Ringing endorsements from Author friends?
Previous reviews?
A badass synopsis?
Word of mouth from fellow readers?

Some of these things work, some don't, but an author never truly knows what makes someone want to click BUY.

Entwined is a big deal for me. It's my first dive into ménage territory. Threesomes aren't for everyone. Wait, I take that back. Threesomes, where lesbian sex is at the forefront, isn't everyone's cup of tea. Now two dudes or multiple dudes dicking down? People LOVE that. LOL hell, I LOVE THAT. Looking at my Goodreads list you can see I LOVE M/M romances but I digress. I'm in a ton of Facebook reader forums, and I see the responses to multiple men getting it on but two women? Hmm. Not the same response. Could be because there aren't a lot of stories out there that tackle the dynamic. And to make the relationship interracial? Well now... *bow chica wow wow* you've clearly crossed boundaries, Harper!

This is exactly why I write interracial romances. Society is diverse, and ALL KINDS OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SEX!

I don't judge people for what they read. Everything isn't for everyone. I just find it odd when someone says, "I can't identify with two lesbians/bisexuals," or "I can't identify with a heroine/hero of a different race," but stepbrother romances, taboo reads, and monster erotica is acceptable? I mean if you have an open enough mind for those stories, why not other things? Perhaps it's a moral compass. *shrug* I dunno. What I do know is my next two installments of the Kinky Connect Chronicles are something I wholeheartedly enjoyed writing because they challenged me HARDCORE.

Writers get better when they step outside of their comfort zone, and I'm on a goddamn tight rope right now jumping up and down as if I were on a trampoline, and you know what? It's pretty damn fun... hehe.

I can wait until you all read Entwined. Pre-order links should be up on Amazon, All Romance, and Kobo next week. Barnes and Noble users will have to wait until release day. Sadly, B&N will not do pre-orders. Grrr.

Dropping a new promo tomorrow. Should be AWESOMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Jules Dixon I can't wait to see/read you go HARDCORE. Loved the first two in the series, can't wait for this one! I agree about diversity, the more the better and in all age groups, too. Reading opens minds, we need more of that in the world. Keep on writing, Harper, the world needs more of you in the world, too! <3 Jules
