The meaning of fire you see in dreams, nightmares or in meditations, such as a burning house or a burning building.
In some dreams and meditations/past-life regressions, we can find ourselves running out of a burning house, or being on the outside of a burning building.
This means we have become separated from ourselves. We are in a state of separation, not a state of One-ness.
And it is our belief in the reality of the fire that we see in our dreams, in our acceptance of the fire as being a real fire, that has caused us to become separated from ourselves.
It is also our fear of walking back into the burning house/building that keeps us in our state of separation, or duality, or conflict.
Because what happens to us when we walk back into a burning house?
We risk the chance of being burnt alive. We risk the chance of dying.
The symbol of the burning house, therefore, represents our fear of death.
The symbol of fire = the illusion created by the conscious mind. The most controlling illusion being the illusion of death.
The symbol of the house/building = yourself.
This is why you have to walk through the fire (in your dreams, in your nightmares, in your meditations) and set yourself free of your fear of death and so set yourself free (of illusion).
Only by setting yourself free of illusion and your fear of death are you free.
– “You cannot know fire from words alone. Enter the fire if you want to know the truth.” Rumi
