New Book Coming

I am in the process of retyping The Girl In the Back of the Room, a young adult, coming of age story set circa 1960-61.   From my readers, I have discovered that it also appeals to women of all ages, and even, some men.

It takes place in the heartland of the United States, in a time when life was simpler and technology meant television and the space race.  However, relationships between people seem to transcend all cultures and times.

I have always been fascinated with what triggers the change from child to young adult.  It varies with each person, and has no relationship to outward appearances.  A child can easily live inside the body of an adult, and vice versa.

The Girl In the Back of the Room explores a pivotal year in the life of Laurie Billings, a highly imaginative girl of fourteen-going-on-fifteen, who is about to come face-to-face with new facts that change her perception of family, relationships, and how she fits into this world.

If my fingers hold out, I hope to have it out by this fall.
