Dear eema,
Remember the last time you smiled? I do. It's when in the last five days that we spent caring for you, my never-ceases-to-amaze me husband decided to assist the caregiver one night so I could sleep. I caught him in the act of such tenderness and love, I bounced up from the sofa and exclaimed,
"eema, look! that's Peter taking care of you!" And you smiled so sweetly up at him from your half daze - you, partly already in another world - but, still, the you that was still here
smiled. I think you liked that it wasn't just a stranger, a nurse, a caretaker that was caring for you, it was my, your wonderful Peter. So for one last time, you smiled. At my husband.
And since then I also can only do the same when I look at him.
My heart. My love. My husband. Thank you.
This is the blog post he wrote about our last week together.
Death, a Crucial Part of Life
