I wrote SOS because I was troubled by all of the whale and porpoise beachings I had been reading about in the news... troubled because I couldn't understand why it was happening. The ensuing literary journey led me to a story about our environment narrated from a unique perspective, the creatures of the sea (whales, dolphins and others).
A whale, Harmony, is the initial voice of the novel, followed by a dolphin, Laughter Ring, and then a deaf marine biologist, who is the firsts to discover the language and the narrative of the Song of the Sea.
It's a good story, one of my favorites, BUT I am having a devil of a time getting folks to read it.
That is the bad news.
The good news is that once they read it they discover a new perspective of the environment and, for the most part, love it.
I think I am going to re-release it with a snappier title: "Beachings, the trial of the Sandwalkers."
