new poem

ninja cell warriors

my friend and fellow poet
has gotten some notoriety of late
because she pissed off a bunch of catty women.
i think it would be
scary to be on the receiving end of that kind of vitriol
people just go crazy on the internet—
in prison we called it
ninja cell warrior—

that is
you talk massive shit
when you are safely locked in your cage,
but when the door opens,
you turn into a pussy.

on the internet,
everyone is safely locked in their cell
so they talk as much shit as they want.
personally, i always tell fuckheads
that if they want a piece of me
they’d better come get it in person.

i also have a personal motto
that has served me well:
i don’t respond to criticism,
only subpoenas.

Rupert Dreyfus I managed to get a copy of Rusty String Quartet and I'm taking my time with it because it's intense stuff and I'm trying to slow myself down these days when I read poetry rather than just read a whole collection in one sitting as I feel that's not the best way to do it.

Anyway; I was going to ask through author questions but yours isn't switched on; just noticed that there are two references to Cobain within the first 40 pages. With you both being from Seattle, did you have any connection to him or is it just the suicide thing you're referencing because it's close to home?

Cheers!

Jason Show off. I'm still saving up for a copy.

Rupert Dreyfus I fluked it, mate. I just happened to have a look and found a UK seller selling a copy at an affordable price so snapped it up.

No I never met Cobain. But his suicide walloped me pretty good cuz he had everything I wanted...and it still didn't help him.

Oh no! Don't spend more than 20$ for one. If you can't find an inexpensive one, wait, as I will put a reprint out later this year. It is obscene what these shops are selling my out of print books for, just way too expensive. I hate to think that someone can't get a copy of my book because they don't have enough money. That is not cool, to me, at all.

Jason Excellent news on the reprint. :). currently going for £96 on amazon. haha

That is way too expensive. Hold on for a few and we should get a reprint out this summer or maybe in the fall. Plus a new book of poems will be out in the spring too. Cheers!
