Lucie Müller i did enjoy the tale, the medical subject is researched rather I well i guess. Its more the environment like cities that didn't exist then or belonged to another country, names that are wrong from a ethymological point of view etc.

I like that in English the genre is called historical fiction. Because in German there is no such difference between a book that is based on facts and one that is only loosely based on facts. But anyway, it's certainly better than the movie.

Peter Castine Yeah, it was the New Year on 1 January that felt like a slap in the face. But there's a chance that even if Gordon was aware of it, he might have deliberately glossed over a March "new Year" rather than confuse the many readers who aren't aware of the older convention. It would need some kind explanation and wouldn't add to the story in any way.
