I first read The Little Prince as a young teenager; I was probably 15ish? After re-reading it last year, 'appreciate' better describes my reaction. I, then, tried introducing my 12-yr-old granddaughter to it, but she is not quite ready for it~ yet.

I loved The Little prince when I read it at age 35 (and was so busy with 4 children ages 10-14). Reread at age 77 and felt nothing. Maybe because I have accepted thesis and do not need what I felt were ramblings this time. Have to agree about Kristin about The Giving Tree.

Kristin, You said yourself that this is not a children's book then you proceed to complain about how adults foist books like this on children. I agree: it is not a children's book.
