1) I agree with everything except that Brennan is going to betray everyone for him. 2) I thought the exact same thing about the stones when I read that too. Also, they made a comment that he had already jumped the long distance back and forth to Basgiath earlier and his power should be draining, Garrick is definitely venin. I also think he was was the "brother" Theophanie was referencing as well.
