Oh my gosh. I read a lot of Anne Rice in high school. I know you said you bailed on her once you started the witch stuff, but did you read 'The Witching Hour'? If not, try that one, it's great. And I love the big ones too. If they're good. Do you read fantasy? The Warded Man was GREAT but it's not huge and and their are only 2 books in the series so far. So if you hate to wait for sequels to come out....OOOOOH! Try Shogun!! James Clavell. They're good and big. And the series is done. And since you read the erotica books try Gabaldon's Outlander series. Some of my all time fav's. They're more really good romance/adventure than erotica. Other than the first one. More erotica there.

Terry Goodkind is pretty good and the books are long. There are about 11 books in his Sword of Truth series but it's fantasy. Sorry, I read a lot of fantasy. If you want more/different suggestions let me know.
