I respectfully disagree about the romance. I think one of the themes of the series is that Vin and Elend *are* teenagers, *and* their world is collapsing. It's fascinating to watch how they attempt to reconcile these opposing aspects of their lives, and that it gives the series as a whole a sense of authenticity that epic fantasy often lacks.
