Okay, I get what you mean. Maybe the 'good guy, bad guy' comparisons are a little black & white. It's probably better to say that Will is more complicated and angsty which makes him come across as brooding & dark, and although he had a very good reason for pushing Tessa away, Jem, the guy who has been nothing but nice to her, would be seen to be the 'lighter' character. Although Jem's past is also fraught with complications and tragedy, his general demeanour seems to be far nicer. In public of course, since we know Will really isn't like that. But to Tessa's eye, this is how she sees them. And it just seems a little odd that she would love Will more when his behaviour to her has been negative and Jem's has been positive. And I would really like to see a piece of fiction someday where being nice pays off. lol. Because it never seems to :/ Jem probably is her second option, because she had to move on after Will who was her first love. I think you're right about that. But I think as her feelings for him grew, they became more equal in her heart and they both represent different things, which mean a lot to her. So she accepted his proposal. Will revealing his love obviously threw her because half of her has always wanted this, but she can't just throw away her love for Jem as if it didn't exist. That's just the way I see it. But you're right, everyone has a different opinion. As long as people don't say she's marrying Jem out of pity, then I'm happy :)
Yeah, i totally agree.
I also understand why Tessa accepted Jems proposal. It was the Victorian era after all, i think some people are forgetting that and are so quick to judge Tessa for it. I still feel like she has more of a connection for Will though.
Yeah that's exactly the way i see it.
This love triangle by far is my favourite i've ever read about. I really don't know who she'll end up with, i'm thinking Jem or no one.
What do you think?
Oh and what i hate more than people saying she's marrying Jem out of pity is when they say they want Jem to die.
