I absolutely agree with you on that. I read it anyway but it did bother me. Kinda wonder why she chose to go that route.
Just so we're not confused Shelter Mountain had a character that was nicknamed Preacher and he wasn't one.
I hope you have finished reading Shelter Mountain, in the first series Preachers character is explained as the one who didn't have vices, doesn't smoke, does not do sex and basically a big man with a bog heart. That's the reason He is called Preacher.
