Great, thanks to you both. I thought Beloved was very good. Hated the movie though. Alice Walker is a hero of mine, I should probably bother to read more of what she's written than Color Purple.

I've also read Zora Neale Hurston's Their Eyes Were Watching God and liked it ok but i think I should re-read it as I don't think I got it.

For Toni Morrison, Song of Solomon and Sula were more accessible than some of her other books. Enjoyed them both.
