Jerome Turner I assumed she had killed Hitler, but that this didn't end the war. They did elude at one point that killing Hitler might not be enough if his generals stepped in to take his place.

Michael Reynolds I think that, in the first go-around, Izzy's son Roland grew up in Germany and became the pilot who shoots Teddy down. With Roland growing up in England
instead, history is changed just enough for Teddy to survive. Notice that nothing that Ursula did affects the Roland situation either way. Some of her actions do affect history....but not all of them.

Sarah Michael I think you just made this book make sense for me! I was struggling to understand the chain of events which had led to Teddy still being alive at the end. The war had obviously still taken place as Ursula would not have been alive otherwise. DO you think there is any significance to Roland being described as 'slow' and would he have been able to become a pilot if that were the case?

Yadi When is it mentioned that it is German-raised Roland that shoots down Teddy?

Nan Sprester I think it was pretty obvious Roland had fetal alcohol syndrome. I think that's why the scene where a pregnant Izzie drank champagne was included.

Libby King Nan, what an excellent observation! I was thinking Down's syndrome, but FAS is quite possible.
