I have a sci-fi that I'd love to be beta read. It's around 50K words, space opera, told in 1st pov.
Here's the blurb:
Ten years ago, Captain Colderaro was the star of the Confederacy Task Force. And then she went missing.
Now, presumed dead, she prefers to keep a low profile. Working as a pilot on a freighter ship, she occasionally accepts the odd refugee passenger to appease her humanitarian conscience. But things go downhill when her cargo turns out to be none other than the princess of an alien race and her two bodyguards.
Embroiled in a galaxy-wide conspiracy, Captain Colderaro finds herself dodging the Confederacy Task Force, fighting space pirates, and evading mercenaries intent on capturing the princess.
Can she make it to the alien planet without losing or damaging her cargo while still keeping her real identity a secret?

Best,

The residents of Arkkan's childhood hometown have mysteriously vanished. When the news reaches him, so does a premonition that he and his unborn child will be next. Seeking answers and hope, he journeys there and encounters others who are also haunted by their ties to the town.
Their investigations put them on the trail of Deyn, whose addiction to magically smelling secrets took him deep into the town's sinister history, and deeper still into an ancient underground labyrinth teeming with imprisoned demonic monsters.
Arkkan, a family man from a tiny fishing village, is completely out of his element, but sometimes a different perspective is more valuable than a strong arm. If the group can't uncover and undo what Deyn set in motion, then their bloodlines will be far from the last to share in the townspeople's fate.
It's a bit hefty at 148k words, but after receiving some agent feedback I'm really trying to hone the first chapter, so if you'd be interested in only reading the beginning to see if you want to commit to something longer, that would still help me out.
You can DM or email me at contact@paulburvid.com if you're interested. Thanks!

I recently completed a 77,000 word Science Fiction YA novel. I am also about 10,000 words into a crime novel. Would you be interested in reading either of these?

I would love to read the crime novel. You can contact me at ajprkp230@gmail.com.

I hope that perhaps my book would be of interest to you. It is 103k Victorian England inspired fantasy.
I'm seeking betas who would be interested in providing thorough feedback on character arc, pacing, character development, flow, structure and general feedback before I start querying. It has been through a round of beta reading and a few edits.
Here is the blurb:
Alrewyn is a Sentinel in the Major Arcana, the Crown’s elite force of Arcana wielders. She is recalled from her unsuccessful five-year mission of being undercover as a Dame in the capital’s most exclusive brothel. She then discovers that the assignment has been a ploy by Elvar, her handler and childhood friend, to uncover a priceless book of the eternal secrets of Arcana so he can bring down the Crown.
The Crown runs out of patience and sets a time limit on what was supposed to be her mission all along. Alrewyn now only has a fortnight to deliver the smugglers who under the Crown’s noses liberate Workhouses full of the poor. If she fails, Elvar would be put to death. But Elvar is not deterred by the threat and is determined to have the book by any means necessary.
In a race against time, she must find the smugglers who leave no trace behind and stop Elvar from destroying the institution she swore to serve.
It blends the themes and writing styles of Leigh Bardugo’s SIX OF CROWS, Samantha Shannon’s THE BONE SEASON, Jay Kristoff’s NEVERNIGHT, V.E Schwab’s A DARKER SHADE OF MAGIC and ASSASSIN'S CREED.

Blurb:
After a traumatic childhood, 20-year-old Nia finds peace with her boyfriend, only to end up kidnapped on a boat two years later. Her captor Sebastian tells her he’s delivering to his boss, but she isn’t planning on going quietly. Trying everything in her power to find a way out, Nia’s experiences and sympathy help her gain an unexpected ally in fellow orphan Sebastian and his dog Shirley.
Their escape thwarted, they swim to the boss’s island, where they discover a startling truth about the family they never knew. Upon finding out Nia is a firstborn predestined to be sacrificed to keep the revolutionist boss immortal, Nia resigns to giving up her life to improve the world and save others, while Sebastian is unwilling to lose her. Facing each other as well as the boss's manipulative ways, their love is pitted against their selfishness as they navigate traumas, struggle with choices, and fight for what they believe in.

Set in Los Angeles, Scarred is the story of a woman coming to terms with unbelievable trauma while at the same time discovering an internal strength greater than she ever thought she had. Sarah, a former Marine who had settled into a comfortable life with her husband and young daughter, thought she had reached the pinnacle of suburban comfort when a case of mistaken identity throws everything into chaos. Consumed by her hatred and pain, Sarah begins to plot her revenge against the people and forces responsible for the horrific death of her family.
Cutting herself off from the outside world, Sarah trains ferociously in an effort to transform herself, both mentally and physically, back into the soldier she once was. Simultaneously, she commits herself to investigating the heinous crime that irrevocably changed her life forever. After waging a violent crusade, she comes to realize that EcstaZen, a massive pharmaceutical company based in downtown Los Angeles, has created the new street drug sweeping the city, which was, inadvertently, the cause of her misfortune.
Full of daring action sequences, moments of quiet, dark introspection, and the kinds of narrative twists and turns that are sure to keep even the most jaded reader guessing, Scarred will take readers on a roller coaster of emotion and adventure. As the story unfolds, we realize that everyone exists in a state of moral ambiguity, and it’s never quite so clear who is “good” and who is “bad.”
Looking for brutally honest feedback on everything from pacing, character development, tone, how easy the plot is to follow, and how interesting the overall story is. Thanks in advance!

Absolutely. It may take a bit before I can get to it because I've got two other projects going. If you don't mind that, then send it on to ajprkp230@gmail.com.

It's high fantasy about a half faerie who, after years of peacefully working in the human army, gets thrown into a war against the Unseelie King after surviving a battle against him. She then slowly rises in power to try and stop him while trying to figure out why the King is starting the war.

I've got a 120k high fantasy book I'm looking to have beta read.
It's the 2nd book in my Dark Magic Series called "Red Lands and Black Flames." Book 1 in the series "The Butcher and the Bard" is already published. Due to the fact that this is a 2nd book, I will need betas to read the 1st book in order to understand everything. I would provide the 1st book for free (it's only 88k and fast-paced). The 2nd book picks up right where the 1st leaves off.
Here is the blurb for the first book (which has 5 star reviews here on GoodReads:
Marai is a mercenary. She is known amongst criminals of the shadows as the Lady Butcher. She lives in a world that abhors magic and punishes all magical folk, forcing Marai to hide her true self. She is half-fae, one of the last of her kind, after her people were savagely massacred.
But when Marai takes a commission from Ruenen, a young bard running from two powerful kingdoms, she is forced to confront the magic she’s tucked away inside herself as darkness spreads across the Continent of Astye.
Marai must protect Ruenen, and get him safely to the mysterious land of Andara, before he falls into the hands of cruel kings, bloodthirsty vampires, vengeful pirates, and mysterious dark magic.
Is Ruenen’s secret worth risking Marai’s own life? Is Marai ready to confront the demons of her past, and embrace her strength within?

I can't just now. I have a long queue already.

I have a completed contemporary paranormal drama novel that I'd love some unbiased feedback on. It's about 41k words (short, I know, but it's the first book the series) and follows my sassy redhead protagonist as she works through some serious personal issues and fights the urge to slaughter everyone, all while being taunted by the evil voice in her head haha :)
If it's something you think you'd be interested in, please feel free to drop me a message :)
Thanks,
Beth

Hi. I'm sorry it took so long to get back to you. This sounds interesting. My email is ajprkp230@gmail.com, if you're still interested.

My book is a low fantasy set in India with an alternate mythology. There are Gods, demons, angels and an immortal whom only the MC can see.
I’m only looking for betas to review the first three chapters. Mostly, I want to know if the first chapter is captivating enough and would like general feedback on the characters, pacing and the writing.
If that interests you, you can either contact me directly through email at zoovi.author@gmail.com, letting me know you’re from Goodreads. Or you can mention your email address for me to send you the chapters.

Hi. You can send me your chapters. My email is ajprkp230@gmail.com. Look forward to hearing from you.

If you're available, I'd like to get your feedback on the first 3-4 chapters of a novel I'm writing. It's crime/mystery/phycological thriller. It has a 19 year old girl as a protagonist, but I don't think it classifies as YA, as the other main character is an adult.
I can contact you on your email if you're interested.
Thanks.

Alex, Ive got 2 chapters of a MS. I'd love it if you could read 1 or both just to see if its readable. Mystery/Thriller, Serial killer with more. Thx. JRJ

If you have time and are interested in an alt-history novel, I have the first 10 chapters of The Gospel of Lucre available for beta reading.
Trigger Warning! The subject of this query letter is a blasphemous novel. It does not belong in the hands of anyone who devoutly follows any of the Abrahamic traditions. The Gospel of Lucre, a 97,000-word historical fiction novel is not for the close-minded. Book I at 25k words is the first installment.
Kristos, a first century caravan master and con man, abandons the trade routes and settles in Roman occupied Judea. The knowledge of medicine and mythology acquired on his travels throughout the ancient world serves him well to swindle the uneducated and superstitious. The resentment and civil unrest simmering in Jerusalem inspires him to pull his boldest con of all time. He will be the Jewish Messiah.
With a cadre of trusted caravan mates, he travels the countryside preaching, healing, and recruiting disciples. He first liberates Mary, a Magdalene prostitute, by killing her vicious pimp. Along the way, he adds a mentally damaged Nazarene named Jesus and his mother, two corruptible fishermen, two tax collectors, a talented artist, and an assortment of camp followers who aid and abet him.
As the movement grows, it attracts the attention of a fanatical priest intent on returning the apostates to the fold. The holy man revels in torture, terror, and murder as he pursues his self-righteous compulsions. Driven by religious fervor, but tormented by sinful longings, Saul of Tarsus will stop at nothing until he has Kristos in chains and young Barnabas in his bed.
While Kristos tours the country, gaining followers and growing his treasury, his brother Yakob remains in Jerusalem where he makes connections and establishes a criminal organization. Yakob’s influence on the Romans, the Sanhedrin, Herod, and Pontius Pilate will determine whether the scam succeeds, and whether Kristos lives or dies.
Kristos returns to Jerusalem where, to further convince his followers of his divinity and escape persecution, he fakes his crucifixion and resurrection. He escapes with pregnant Mary and leaves the fledgling religion in the capable hands of his brother. But he faces the obsessed priest one final time in a showdown on the road to Damascus.
The book originated as an idea for a short story after reading about the rise and fall of televangelists Jimmy Swaggart and Jim Bakker. I knew there were medieval charlatans, and wondered how far back they went. I intended to write a short story about a fifth century con man but decided to take it all the way back to Anno Domini XXX. The Gospel of Lucre imagines a plausible alternative to the writings of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. The first part takes the MC through meeting Saul of Tarsus, John the Baptist, Mary of Magdala, Jesus and his mother.
The time period, geography, history, and background is thoroughly researched.
Thanks for your consideration.
Best regards,
Rob

Hi Rob. I've seen you post in a few places now, and wonder if you'd be interested in a critique partner for your first 10 chapters. Your book sounds like something I'd be interested in reading. Feel free to reach out at hartsockj [at] gmail [dot] com if you think that might work.

The lives of 6 best friends are turned around when they stumble upon ancient ground.
The lives of six inseparable friends take a dramatic turn when they stumble upon an ancient kingdom known as BaZakia. This kingdom had been trapped in time by a malevolent curse cast by the Carnuvis, its arch-nemesis, centuries ago. Eager to unearth the mysteries of Bazakia, the group of young historians embark on a quest to unlock its secrets, lift the curse, and restore the kingdom to its former splendor.
Their journey, however, takes an unexpected twist when they encounter a descendant of the Carnuvi clan. She is determined to thwart their mission, for her family's destiny is intricately tied to the curse's preservation. As the race to reach Bazakia intensifies, these steadfast friends must delve into the realms of Nshey3, immerse themselves in history, and grapple with the profound concept of self-sacrifice for the greater good.
The stakes are high, and the ultimate question lingers: who will reach BaZakia first and dictate the destiny of an ancient kingdom teetering on the brink of restoration and eternal oblivion?
This book is filled with adventure, friendship, family ties, and sacrifice. Please let me know if you are interested.
