all the bright places has a deuteragonist with undiagnosed bipolar disorder. it has very good representation of the depression he experiences, but do check TWs
Good Morning Annabella if you are into family drama Cry For My Brother - a tragedy is a depressive read. Each member of the family is dealing with depression; anger, melancholia, and disruptive mood disorder. There is drug use and murder. It is a little over 300 pages. I hope that helps.
Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson is short and will really put you through the wringer. I think about it at least once a week and I've reread it sooo many times. I'd check the TWs though.

Idk if these kinda books exist but if anyones read anything with a depressed mc, but preferably not any explicit self harm. I'd really appreciate any recs, tysm!
