John Stipa Here are a few pull-quotes from reviewers of No Greater Sacrifice, an adventure/mystery/romance by John C. Stipa:

"...the hook of this book is the action and that is where Stipa's writing shines... dialogue is crisp and the pacing of the novel is unrelenting"
--LLBookReview

"The flavor is distinctly reminiscent of Dan Brown, except with far superior writing."
--Melydia.zoiks.org

"This book is a top-notch, exhilarating and (dare I say?) "brilliant" page-turner."
--Gary Val Tenuta

"The mystery is great. Stipa hits you with major surprises up to the very end."
--J.Hangen

"Stipa's characters are alive and full of passion. John's sense of mystery and suspense grabs you to the end."
--M. E. Gavin

From the back cover:
When terminally-ill archaeologist Renée d'Arcadia is summoned to France to take part in the reading of a will, she is plunged into a maelstrom of deceit and destruction to solve a 100-year-old mystery originating from a sinister church where nothing is as it seems. Renée joins forces with David Arturo, an ex-helicopter pilot with a troubled past, to interpret clues cleverly hidden in tombstones and classic works of literature to find artifacts scattered across Europe. Racing against time, Renée and David must overcome their inner demons to outmaneuver a network of evil bent on destroying them. What they find in each other just might provide answers to some of mankind's oldest myths.

David Pereda My book, Havana: Killing Castro, is the second in my Havana series, released by Eternal Press. Dr. Raymond Peters, a noted Miami plastic surgeon, is being sought in the death of a fisherman in Mexico -- whom he knows to be Fidel Castro after a surgery he performed (see my first book, Havana: Top Secret). Raul Castro suspects him, the CIA suspects him, and the real killers are trying to silence him. Dr. Peters uses all his sources to try to keep the upper hand -- and the life of his family, now that his wife, Sonia, is pregnant.

Havana: Killing Castro (and the earlier book) are available from Eternal Press as ebooks and in Print from Amazon, and Havana: Killing Castro is also available as a Kindle book.

John Hello,
I'm John Lathrop, author of The Desert Contract, which came out in 2008 (John Murray, Publishers), and The End of the Monsoon, which will be out this August.

These are contemporary political thrillers, the first set in Saudi, the second in Cambodia. The first chapter of Monsoon is downloadable as a PDF on my website.

I tried to do several things in this novel: insert some realistic conflict into the plot; describe the reality of expat life in Phnom Penh today; add an element of the adventure, or chase story, and even an element of Buddhism. Not all of this is apparent from the first chapter, but some if it should be--I'd be grateful for any frank comments.

Any PDFs from fellow authors out there?

John Stipa Thanks for the kind words, Audrey! I just received a beautiful 5-star review from William Potter of Reader's Choice Reviews. Personally, I love William's comment about fearing his couch would fall through to a secret chamber - that cracked me up:

Looking for adventure, mystery, romance and loads of fun in your next summer read? Trek across Europe, search for lost treasure, defeat the bad guys, and much more as you enjoy author John C. Stipa’s entertaining debut novel, No Greater Sacrifice.

The author captured my interest from the prologue. A parish priest is murdered in a church at Rennes-le-Château in the South of France in 1917. Three men are framed for the murder and the seeds of a 100-year-old mystery are planted.

We meet our heroine, archaeologist Renée d’Arcadia, in present day Greece. It is a short time after she has learned she is terminally ill with leukemia. Her plan is to look around the well known sites in Greece such as the Acropolis. Instead, she explores the Temple of Eleusis. There she finds a small bronze piece with strange symbols and markings.

Renée is summoned to a church in France for the reading of a will. While en route, she meets David Arturo, who has been named in the will as well and the pair travel to Rennes-le-Château for the reading. Instead of wealth or property, the two are left more puzzle pieces like the one Renée found in Greece.

This touches off a whirlwind journey across Europe from Stonehenge to Frombork Poland to find the remaining puzzle pieces. At the end, unknown riches await that could be the Ark of the Covenant, the Holy Grail or even King Solomon’s gold. However, sinister forces are never far away. A murderous group of criminals are willing do whatever it takes to attain the bronze pieces and the treasure.

John C. Stipa has included all the aspects of great contemporary fiction: a captivating opening, wonderful characters, and a tight plot with plenty of twists and turns. He builds the tension, increasing the pace, keeping the reader glued until the climactic ending. Renée and David begin a classic, budding romance charged with sexual tension. David, the college professor, former military, calm and organized, is the perfect companion to the wild, spontaneous, act-first-deal-with-consequences-later Renée. The secondary cast is first rate with Renée’s best friend, the eccentric “Trout,” and the pompous Paul Meehutch adding enough contrast and support without overshadowing the heroes.

Any author writing in this genre risks comparison to the literary work of Dan Brown. I believe Stipa has done enough to distance himself from Brown’s well known books and movies. The dialogue is realistic and the narrative so descriptive that you begin to fear you and your couch will collapse into the next secret chamber along with the characters. The beautiful but tough, crossbow toting, take no bull, Renée d’Arcadia is the new Indiana Jones. Don’t miss this thrill-a-minute adventure! Highly Recommended.

Steve Anderson Hi all. Thanks for letting me tell you about my historical espionage thriller The Losing Role:

Near the grim end of World War II a failed German actor, Max Kaspar, is forced to join a desperate secret mission in which he must impersonate an enemy American officer. So Max cooks up his own fanatical plan - he'll use his false identity to escape tyranny and war and flee to the America he'd once abandoned.

The Losing Role is based on an actual false flag operation that's infamous in legend but in reality was a doomed farce. Though set during war, it has elements of crime and noir and should interest readers of Martin Cruz Smith, Alan Furst, Philip Kerr and others.

Cliff Ball My novel is The Usurper, it's about:

The Soviet Union and the KGB refuse to let the purging of communists in the United States government by Senator Joe McCarthy and the House Un-American Activities Committee deter them. Soviet Premier Khrushchev authorizes the KGB to embark on an ambitious, decades long plan to destroy the United States from within through the corruption of American politicians and the American education system.

Gary Jackson is the fulfillment of the KGB plan to destroy the United States from within. They raise him from birth to hate everything about the United States, indoctrinate him, and introduce him to terrorists across the world, where the KGB dictates all terrorist attacks. When Gary is a teenager, he is sent to the United States, using a fake birth certificate, to assimilate and begin his mission. Nothing will deter his goals of completely and utterly destroying the United States. When the Soviet Union dissolves, he is given a choice, and he decides to continue with the mission.

Find out what happens next, as a select few try to stop Gary Jackson.

M. Clifford Hi everyone. I didn't used to think of my novel as a thriller, but recently had a review where it was called just that. I thought since that reader got "thriller" out of it, maybe you all would too. Here are some links and a brief synopsis. The Book by M. Clifford The Book
It begins,“Don’t read The Book.” All information is controlled by The Book, a digital reading device that exists in a paperless, dystopian future shockingly similar to our own. Among the many Book lovers, we find Holden, a simple sprinkler fitter content with his small life. Within his favorite story, he discovers an inconsistency between the digital version & a rare paper page, preserved as “recycled” wallpaper in his favorite Chicago bar, The Library. A quest for answers leads him to discover a secret library of books & the subtle, potent censorship of all written words. Alongside the like-minded readers of the Ex Libris, Holden dedicates himself to freeing the world from the grip of the Publishing House & overthrowing the Editors of The Book, saving the last printed words on earth. As the government’s capacity to outwit the minds of the public reveals itself, Holden is forced to accept that the only way to succeed may be to sacrifice the one thing they love more than life–books.

M.A. Comley Hi I'm Mel and I've been writing since I moved to France nearly 9 years ago.

I felt there was a shortage in the market of feisty female detectives, so I created D I Lorne Simpkins, my main character, those who have read the book so far have compared her to Jane Tennison of 'Prime Suspect' fame.

In Impeding Justice Lorne comes up against her nemesis 'The Unicorn', an underworld criminal who does everything in his power to make her life hell and prevent her from bringing him to justice.

Her determination to capture the criminal intensifies when Lorne's daughter is kidnapped and she is removed from the case.

Can she bring the vile criminal down before he destroys all her loved ones...

The book is full of twists and turns so prepare yourself for a roller-coaster ride.

Hope you enjoy the read.

Libby SET THE NIGHT ON FIRE, my new thriller, which is part historical, part love story was just released in December.

Someone is trying to kill Lila Hilliard. During the Christmas holidays she returns from running errands to find her family home in flames, her father and brother trapped inside. Later, she is attacked by a mysterious man on a motorcycle... and the threats don't end there.

As Lila desperately tries to piece together who is after her and why, she uncovers information about her father's past in Chicago during the volatile days of the late 1960s... information he never shared with her, but now threatens to destroy her.

Part thriller, part historical novel, and part love story, Set the Night on Fire paints an unforgettable portrait of Chicago during a turbulent time: the riots at the Democratic Convention... the struggle for power between the Black Panthers and SDS... and a group of young idealists who tried to change the world.

Here are some review blurbs:

"A tremendous thriller, sweeping but intimate, elegiac but urgent, subtle but intense... this story really does set the night on fire."
—Lee Child

Set the Night on Fire is a compelling story of love, truth and redemption. This will be a break-out novel for this talented writer. Highly recommended."
—Sheldon Siegel, New York Times best-selling author of Perfect Alibi

"A top-rate standalone thriller that taps into the antiwar protests of the 1960s and 70s... A jazzy fusion of past and present, Hellman's insightful, politically charged whodunit explores a fascinating period in American history."
—Publishers Weekly

"Top Pick! A marvelous novel."
—Romantic Times Book Reviews

"A dazzlingly authentic novel that takes us back to the passions of the Sixties."
—Kindle Daily Nation

It's on Kindle, in hard cover, and trade paperback.
(And Goodreads). Hope you'll check it out.

Ronald Klueh Hello,

I would like to introduce my techno-thriller novel, Perilous Panacea published by Savant Books in October 2010. The following is taken from the back cover.

Despite repeated assurances by the U.S. Department of Energy that security of weapons-grade nuclear material is invulnerable, Perilous Panacea describes how that security is breached by a computer wizard. Bankrolled by Iranians, enough plutonium and weapons-grade uranium is stolen to manufacture more-than ten atomic bombs. To manufacture the bombs, an expatriate Iranian nuclear engineer is blackmailed and two American scientists—a metallurgist and a chemist—are kidnapped. Chaos in the Washington corridors of power hinders the FBI pursuit of the missing nuclear material. All that stands between the world and nuclear catastrophe are the two scientists, who know they must escape … escape or die.

Kind Regards,

Ronald Klueh

Sherry Gammon Hello all,
Unlovable, a YA romantic thriller, is available for purchase! I published Unlovable back in January as an Ebook. It has done so well I decided to make it available in hard copy. Thanks everyone! Unlovable was temporarily pulled from the market to give it a final polish, but mostly to reformat it for hard copy! Currently, it is back on the market in ebook format. At the end of April the hard copy will be up for sale also. Here is a synopsis:

17 year old Maggie Brown is the poster child for Heroin Chic with her jutting bones and dark-ringed eyes. But drugs are not Maggie's problem; her mother is. She's struggling with her feelings for the new guy, Seth Prescott, fearing he is just another person who'll let her down.
The young Seth Prescott's an undercover cop whose feelings for Maggie have become complicated, and he's tired of fighting them.
As he works to bring down the local drug dealers, Maggie struggles to stay alive as the hunt turns deadly.
Seth and Maggie's romantic journey is one of humor, heartbreak, and self-discovery.

Unlovable is currently available as an ebook on Goodreads(http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/10...)
Amazon(http://www.amazon.com/Unlovable-Port-...)
Barnes & Noble(http://search.barnesandnoble.com/Unlo...)
and Smashwords(http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/...).
It will be available in hard copy at the end of April(2011)on Amazon.

Lee Holz Lee Holz Lee HolzThe Abomination Assignment The Abomination Assignment (The Bowin Novels) by Lee Holz
This is adult fiction. Here is the description from the back cover:

What do a Palestinian gunman in Hamburg, an al-Qaida operative in Amsterdam, a Saudi bomber in Montreal and an American self-proclaimed "Prophet of the People" have in common? Dr. Thomas Bowin, noted neuroscientist and occasional government-sanctioned assassin, is on a mission to hunt them down. Add the Prophet's naked handmaiden, a seductive spy and a beautiful Royal Canadian Army Special Operations Major. Tom Bowin's adventures are as interesting as they are violent.

This is the first of the Bowin novels.

Ian Fraser Hi all, my The Depths of Deception is holding steady at #73 in Amazon Kindle's Top 100 Charts for Spy and Tales of Intrigue. Its picked up a number of 5 star reviews.

http://www.amazon.com/The-Depths-of-D...

Here's the blurb:
There are only a few good solutions in a world gone mad.

America has disappeared some years ago. A neo-fascist Party has come to power in the UK. Russia has expanded south. Ships leaving continental European waters are attacked. China is on the rise.

A submarine hurtles through the cold dark waters of the Atlantic en route to an unknown destination. Only the ship’s doctor knows its true mission, but he is not who he appears to be.

A sweeping tale moving from the violent heart of Apartheid South Africa, to the ruins of the United Kingdom, and down to the edge of the world in the frozen Antarctic landscape, The Depths of Deception is a modern homage to the works of Alastair Maclean, Hammond Innes, Neil Shute and other great adventure writers.

It is a cruel tale of revenge, served as a shatteringly cold dish.
