Lauren Read Rover THE SYNOPSIS WAS SOOOO MISLEADING! THIS IS A BOOK ABOUT A HOSTAGE SITUATION!

message 2: by Cat (new)

Cat I’m still wondering, after all these months, whose idea it was to write it like that, Lauren.

message 3: by Traci (new)

Traci I absolutely agree! I kept reading and rereading the back cover because it didn't make sense!

message 4: by Cat (new)

Cat Hi Traci, it feels like someone got the synopsis from another story. It makes no sense.

message 5: by Chanelle (new)

Chanelle Kerr So disappointed in the synopsis. The whole story is about a hostage and very heavy domestic violence situation. The description sounded like a great read, the story itself had nothing to do with it and was quite sickeningly confronting. It is not a story I would have chosen to read had the synopsis actually been for this story.

message 6: by Janet (new)

Janet Read this for our three-person book club, and so true, that has to be the synopsis for a different book. By the time it finally got to the end, I had to reread that part to see if I was missing something. For me it really was longer than it needed to be - descriptions were too wordy. And the time for the police response-really?

message 7: by Suzan (new)

Suzan Cat's review is a spot-on way to describe this work of fiction. I also wanted to like this book more, but it seemed to have plot flaws and conflicts that I couldn't get past to say I truly enjoyed it. I did give it a chance, and I'm happy I got through the book.

message 8: by Julie (new)

Julie I never read synopses until after I finish the book, because I feel they often give too much away. I look forward to finishing a book and then seeing what the synopsis read….I agree with your point: this synopsis made no sense. The Wests weren’t new to the neighborhood (Gladys mentions they moved in when she was just pregnant with the twins), and there’s never a mention of them not joining in neighborly functions. Such an odd summary. But—I really enjoyed the book!

Cat Julie wrote: "I never read synopses until after I finish the book, because I feel they often give too much away. I look forward to finishing a book and then seeing what the synopsis read….I agree with your point..."

Maybe that is a good idea.

message 10: by Hope (new)

Hope McCain I did enjoy the story, minus a few annoying details, but I came to the reviews purely to make sure I wasn’t alone in being perplexed by the synopsis.

message 11: by Jo (new)

Jo Horan Agree 100% Cat. I found it slow and annoying in the dialogue. I kept thinking just do it!!! Stop wasting time. I was exhausted from it and skimmed through the end.

message 12: by Olivia (new)

Olivia Bowersox Agreed! Had I known there would be anything close to child abuse and a psycho father talking about not feeling anything while hurting his daughter I would have never purchased. Very misleading.

message 13: by Cassie (new)

Cassie McFarren Smith Yes! The synopsis is soo misleading!

message 14: by Anna (new)

Anna Agree, the book I read was very different to what I thought I was going to be reading based from the back. No mention of abuse or difficult relationships at all

message 15: by Zoe (new)

Zoe Good I’m so happy someone else feels this way! I honestly feel Iike we all thought it was the husband because Nicole makes it truly seem like it, but then it’s her son? Honestly didn’t like the switch because it didn’t seem right, I was confused for a few pages.
