I'd like to change to my new cover > Likes and Comments

I tried and was told only a Librarian could manage this.

We don't change covers for existing books. If the ISBN/ASIN remains the same you can add an alternate cover edition.

How does that work? When I tried to change it the notification was that only a librarian could do it. Happy to do it on my own if someone explains how.

That's because you can't change it, and it should not be changed.
As I said above, you can add an alternate cover edition.

If you add an alternate cover edition, do the reviews "move" over to the alternate cover edition? What are the ramifications of an alternate cover edition?

They are both editions of the same book, reviews are for the book rather than specific editions.

On the page for correct edition click on the button with three dots next to 'edit book details', this will display the option.
