Femi Kayode Hi Toks (do you mind if I call you that? It's one of my fav names!) I randomly come here when I am a bit low in spirit and trying to figure out why I do this thing called 'writing'. The masochist in me even appreciates the negative reviews! Anyway, your comment about the naming of the main characters (and his twins) really tickled me. I loved that you picked it up. Interestingly, the naming is based on an actual Yoruba family (quite prominent too) that has twins running through their lineage. I was privileged to have worked with one half of the twins who for some strange reason also married a twin! Dr Taiwo Taiwo is a real thing, I guarantee you. My heart would go out to the other half (Kehinde) if she married a 'Kehinde'. But I am assured they exist but to your point, most use their middle, often anglicised names. Observations such as yours have always fascinated me about 'preordained names' in the Yoruba culture. Even 'Tokunbo' in it's purest sense is one of those. I swear, I actually know an Olatokunbo (first name) Adetokunbo (Last name). Things that make you go 'hmm' indeed. I am also very glad you liked the book. Please check out Gaslight, the sequel. I'd love to know what you think.
