Stephen King made small town horror a cottage industry. The most obvious examples would be 'Salem's Lot and Needful Things.Peter Straub's Floating Dragon is also worth a look. (I'm picking books that cover multiple people in a town over the course of their narrative.)
Not sure if this counts but this topic reminded me of this case:The Prom Night Murders: A Devoted American Family, their Troubled Son, and a Ghastly CrimeThis is a horrific true crime, in a rural community, the story of a massacre in 1989 of a well loved pastor and his family. It took place in my state, in a very small town in Indiana.
I have been following this case with True Crime podcasts also. The very best one to cover all of it and the ongoing court cases even to this day is: CounterClock (Season 3) (for any true crime people here, the podcast is MUCH better than the book--depth of investigation is up to date)

I listen to Counter Clock so I heard about the Pelley case, pretty horrific stuff.
I know this thread hasn't had much action lately, but I figured I could add a few books to the list.
Bentley Little actually has quite a few books that I would consider "small town" horror. I just listed his first here, which also happens to be my favorite. I'm also sure Jeff Strand has a few good ones. I just can't think of any off the top of my head.
Small town/rural horror is something I enjoy. There are so many fun books. Pick petty much any King book and you're golden. Some that I've read recently that were a lot of fun:Ghoul by Brian Keene
Kosa by John Durgin
Lovely, Dark, and Deep by Megan Stockton
Churn the Soil by Steve Stred
Hey Dawn, that's a great one too. Malfi's work tends to be set in small towns so you can't go wrong there!
Maggies Grave takes place in a very small town in Scotland. Like 40 people small town. It's fast-paced and gory if that's your thing.
