A fine unusual voyage in space.
I read this one a long, long time ago Henry- the second one in the series as well, The Ringworld Engineers. Really liked them. Reading your review I want to finish the other three in the series.
Have you read Bob Shaw's Orbitsville series? A little similar but this time it's a Dyson Sphere. Didn't enjoy them as much as Ringworld, but still very readable.

Don't have that book but know about it and will get soon, my good friend. I bought recently a similar one Eon , by the late great fellow San Diegan Greg Bear, son-in- law of another fabulous writer Poul Anderson who I just read Tau Zero highly recommend. A generation starship voyage type novel, love Rendezvous with Rama, too.
Thank you, a strange book , need to read second in series to learn more.
