Mr. Splatter Hey there,

I just want to start off by personally saying a direct thank you for the rating overall. Im so happy the book made you need to take breaths and breaks in between sections in order for you to cross the finish line! I believe that I did achieve what I set out to do. It makes me very proud that you enjoyed it so much that even with the errors and issues you came across, you still managed to give it five stars total. That makes me really happy to hear.

On the other side of that coin, I need this kind of feedback in order to evolve and grow as a writer, especially if I'm going to make it in this field in particular. So once again, thank you very, very much for your direct and blunt review. I understand how scary it might be for people to speak out in fear of retaliation or any kind of lashback for not giving someone a glowing, incredibly perfect review. That's not who I am, whatsoever. I genuinely and truly appreciate any constructive criticism I receive in general.

I want to say that I will be going back through Family Man to run another full-on edit in order to correct and fix these problems personally. As well, I will make sure to get a pair of fresh eyes on the story to help me catch and fix all of the problems that remain. My overall goal from day one has always been to make this book, above all else, enjoyable. I will admit that I did do several rereads as well as personal self-edits on the story on top of handing the book out to several beta readers before I published; however, it's obvious that I missed enough where it needs to be fixed up and corrected once again.

If you had the time and if you felt so inclined, I would love to hear from you directly in order to know a little bit more about where the major issues were. This will help me so that I may focus my aim on those sections or chapters directly first and foremost.

If you were interested in a conversation, I am contactable through my Facebook account or my TikTok page and would love to connect in order to get your direct thoughts or opinions! If not, no worries at all! All the best.

Mr. Splatter.

Julia Hi!

First of all, thank you for taking the time to reply to my review. It's very much appreciated. My apologies if the review seems a little too direct and blunt (I'm Dutch and apparently that's what we're known for, besides splitting bills), because I mean it in a helpful and respectful way. However, I realize that the second paragraph could be considered rude, which was certainly not my intention.

I would also like to point out that I admire your writing style, and having the main character adress the reader multiple times made me chuckle. This also made the story feel more realistic somehow. Additionally, the personal essay at the end is beautiful. Somehow "beautiful" doesn't seem like the right word to describe it, and yet it does. This book - in a very extremist way of course - showcases how cheating can have grave repercussions on a persons's physical and psychological state, and how it is so much bigger than a single act or a series of events. Cheating does an incredible amount of damage, and you can certainly feel the betrayal and hurt the main character experiences.

Lastly, I will say that I wrote this review while I was frustrated over unnecessary mistakes in a number of books by different authors, and probably ended up slightly channelling that into my review, which is unfair to you. Would I happen to have read another author's book with avoidable mistakes, they would most likely have received the same part of this review (but maybe not a five-star rating ;)). So that's a lesson for me - no reviewing in a frustrated state of mind. This, of course, does not take away the feedback behind that paragraph.

Anyway, I would love to get in touch! Will certainly try either Facebook or Instagram when I find the time.

Again, thank you for taking the time to respond. Best regards, Julia.

Mr. Splatter I appreciate your candor and self rereflection that you added into this last comment. However you were not fully mistaken on your thoughts, the book itself needs work, and I understand that now.
Thank you very much for reaching back out and responding! I look forward to haring from you!

Mr. Splatter UPDATE: i currently have a professional editor looking at this book as we speak, so I will have it fixed up and flowing more authentically within a month, or less. Thank you for the inspiration to make this story better!

Julia I only just saw these last two comments, sorry!

I appreciate your kindness and understanding, it shows a lot of character. I didn't think my review would lead to this when I wrote it. Let me express once again that I loved this book and the story is insane (in a good way). 'Family man' is probably the best splatterpunk book I've read so far, by a mile. Besides that, I love seeing an author pridefully evaluate criticism and constructive feedback and take it seriously enough to do a revision. Thank you for that and your kind and respectful communication.

Hope this has not discouraged you in any way, whatsoever! Also... is this your first book?

Mr. Splatter My apologies! I didn't read the last part of your comment that is attached to a direct question.
Yes, this was my first official run at a book being self-published. I'm writing my third as we speak, and I can safely say that the writing from Family Man when I started to where I've gotten to while writing Aged Meat is miles apart-in a good way, of course.

I hope your doing well. And thanks again for helping me self-reflect and take in the errors I need to fix.
