C.C. Gedling Hi, I requested my latest book be brought over to my main profile but the librarian said I needed to request merging profiles.
Amazon send the info on CC Gedling (my actual pen name) but my Goodreads profile requires me to have periods in my initials. This means each time I publish a book or preorder it needs moving over manually. There are books left under the CC Gedling profile that have reviews too.
This all needs merging - will this solve the future book issue or just bring over the current CC Gedling duplicate profile?
Thanks,
CC Gedling

Shim I have asked support to merge https://www.goodreads.com/author/show... into your profile

If your books on Amazon are listed under "CC Gedling" then they will continue being imported there and you will have to ask for them to be moved.

Since you presumably can't change your Amazon author name, the only alternative is to try to pre-empt the auto-importer by requesting your books to be added once you have an ISBN/ASIN.

C.C. Gedling Thanks for requesting the merge. It seems the issues will persist. And I absolutely won’t be changing my author name on Amazon. The place my author name needs changing is on the Goodreads platform. In the UK we don’t routinely insert periods into our initials, so it’s not actually standard thing. This problem has been created by GR policy and wastes both my time and the librarians time every time I publish a book.

Shim Yep, it mostly stems from the fact that the author name on a book is exclusively how the system links a book to an author profile, as opposed to a unique identifier. I recommend contacting Goodreads Support to send feedback, though they aren’t likely to fix it anytime soon.
